Mindfulness of churches and monasteries and thoughts of the times and wisdom of generations past - this is the motivation that has inspired the artist to go on numerous expeditions to old Russian cities.

In his architectural works there is a reflection of his personality and inner emotional experiences. The poetry of the Russian landscape is always at the heart of his work.

A series of artworks were painted at Iversky Monastery, near the town of Valdai. These paintings illustrate how impressed he is by the Russian landscape demonstrating his profound comprehension of it.

A vivid colour palette and a host of warm and cold shades emphasise the dramatic effect of colour perception. Without doubt colour scheme is of primary importance to the artist for his self-expression. For the viewer of art it is the strength of colour that evokes a variety of emotions and feelings. This is most apparent when the artist puts stained glass (smalta) into pictorial pattern. By introducting a mosaic element the artist breaks the colour up into a variety of shades and his artwork becomes comparible to the sound of music.

The artist's interest in church history has prompted him to participate in restoring some of these monuments. In huge pictorial areas of the churches, church walls and gates, the artist has produced paintings of timeless events including his own composition and colour concept in church canons.

Today, one can say for sure, that it is the artist's deep insight into the romantic side of nature interwoven with his inner balance, diligence and capability that has led him on the road to real mastery.
